Selling Avon?

Are you "tossing" books in your neighborhood to only hope to get new business? 

Please, don't think that just throwing an Avon book in every one's yard is going to get you business.  It won't do anything but waste your time and money & possibly aggravate your neighbors.  When I first started with Avon, I had set a budget of just $75.00 to start my business, and that included the $10.00 join fee.  I ordered 50 books, some plastic hanging bags and some inexpensive samples of anti-wrinkle cream which I stapled to my business card.

This was money very well spent.  I set out to go door to door in my own surrounding neighborhood, rang bells and knocked on doors and politely introduced myself while giving out my books and samples. If no one was home, I would leave a book & sample with my business card.  Do you know what happened?  I got a warm and welcoming response, some even made jokes about the old commercials for Avon, and I gained 27 new customers my very first campaign!  I did not get one rejection.  Not even from the men that answered the doors, in fact several of them were quite enthusiastic too.
No matter if you are a seasoned Avon professional or a complete newbie, the fact is that a simple smiling face to face introduction, while placing a campaign book in a person's hand is the very best way to create a new customer.  It is only when a potential customer becomes familiar with you personally, that you will be creating a relationship of trust, and frankly that is how they will begin to feel comfortable and purchase from you. Meeting you and gaining trust for you is the key to a good Avon / sales career. 

Please, please save your money on car damaging magnets!  I learned the hard way.
They really will not give you nearly the results that a little imagination and creativity will.  Instead, purchase Vistaprint business cards online @ www.vistaprint.com  (they are often on sale for under 10 bucks!)  You don't need glossy, just colorful & be creative! 

Simply design them as an incentive card for a campaign "give-away" to your current customers and prospective customers - have a "drawing" each campaign for anyone who orders from you direct or from your website and watch your business grow!  You can reward the winner with an inexpensive item, ie... a lipstick or bubble bath etc...be creative. I did and it really paid off 10 fold! (I often used the featured up-coming products too as they are deeply discounted.)

I simply stapled a card to the front of each campaign book, offering a "free gift" to all of my first time customers, which was most often a lip-gloss or lipstick. I would also offer an special incentive " free gift drawing" valued at $20.00 - $25.00 open to all customers with orders over $40.00 amount (this is easy to do when you have access to so many sale items!  

I would then share the winner's name with to all of my customers via email for each campaign and then urge them to shop in the next campaign for their chance to win themselves.  The fact is, I gained many more customers and increased my sales virtually overnight, this proving to be a far more cost effective way to advertise, and all gifts are a write-off too!  

By doing this you are creating a fun way for your customers to be encouraged to order with each campaign, many will do it just for the chance to win again and again.  Sometimes, I would even create a special incentive drawing for the customers that referred new customers too, growing my business even more. You just have to think "out-side of the box."
